farewell my black balloon...

This is still one of my favourite photoshoots. It resulted in us legging it with camera still on tripod due to some unsavoury characters threatening to rob me, but was worth it!

old photographs...

I will never get tired of staring at old photographs, especially ones of my family. The more decayed and fragile looking the better. I keep mine in a box and love to take them out and study how each one shows its own unique traces of the passing of time, aged by years of being handled and admired.

Old School...

I adore this book. It is a beautiful collection of art and photography inspired by school. To be precise, 'Art inspired by the aesthetics of 20th century education'.

I have always had a fascination with old schools buildings. They are somewhat eerie when empty. Ive always wanted to photograph them and capture that feeling.

Abandoned pencils and toys, unoccupied desks and discarded exercise books give that feeling of human prescence but at the same time its abscence....

The book collects together a whole host of media. From photography, through to collage and illustration. I love the use of old school reports, yearbook and passport booth pictures that gives it that real nostalgic feeling.

Welcome

A self confessed hoarder and lover of everything nostalgic, this is a chance for me to share some of my favourite and most beautiful things, as well as things I stumble across on my nocturnal wanderings.  My passions are baking, photography, books, knitting, crafts, book binding, pin up art, Hitchcock films, dark/melancholic art, visting vintage fairs and artisan food markets...

I have just completed my first two features for Pretty Nostalgic magazine, a monthly mag that comes out in May 2012 and embodies everything I love! I take pictures and write.
